Types Of Bedding That is Best Suited To Student Life
For most students that are moving away from home to attend university it will be the first time in their lives that they will be truly independent. The realisation for parents that their child is leaving and may never return to live in the family home again can be daunting. As a result parents tend to do all they can to provide the items and their children will require to survive student life. Here we examine the issue of bedding and what you can give your children before they set off to university to ensure that they get a good night’s sleep – when they do finally make it to bed.
Completing the bed
Whether your child is spending their first year in the halls of residence or privately rented accommodation, the bed and mattress will usually be provided. To complete the bed you should buy them a couple of pillows and a duvet. Get a duvet that is all weather so that it can be clipped together or unclipped to keep them just the right temperature throughout the year.
Living in student accommodation can be notoriously problematic, with heating on the blink and lack of funds to pay the bills! Buying an additional blanket that can provide welcome heat in the winter time is therefore a good idea.
Choosing the linen
When choosing the bed linen go for a duvet set that has an elasticated bottom sheet that will make changing the bedding easy. Another important item is the mattress protector. Getting a quilted one will provide extra comfort and also prevent dust mites from getting into your child’s bed linen.
Picking a colour scheme and design
There is a good chance that your child’s bedding isn’t going to get washed as often during their spell at university as it would if they were still living at home. This means that light bedding which will show every mark is a bad choice – instead go for darker shades with a busy design.
