The Legacy of Ancient Rome in the Russian Silver Age $61.6 For poets throughout the world Rome was the world. This is particularly true for Russian poets, owing to the anagrammatical relation of the words Rome and mir (Rome and world). The legacy of ancient Rome has always constituted an important component of the Russian cultural consciousness. The revitalization of classical scholarship in nineteenth-century Russia and new approaches to antiquity prompted many of the Russian Symbolists to seek their inspiration in ancient Rome. Vladimir Solovyov, Dmitry Merezhkovsky, Valery Bryusov, Vyacheslav Ivanov, Maksimilian Voloshin, Vasily Komarovsky, and Mikhail Kuzmin all made significant contributions to what is often referred to as the “Roman text.” The Legacy of Ancient Rome in the Russian Silver Age analyzes the forms involved in creating the Roman image and explores its functionality within the given poetic system. In addition to the formal analysis, the background and the stimulus leading up to the composition of a particular poem are explored, as well as allusions to legends, myths and Rome’s geography and architecture. Moreover, this study considers the function of the Roman text in Russian Symbolist poetics and the works of the individual poets. Finally, the relation between the Roman and Petersburg texts of Russian literature is explored, since many of the Russian Symbolist poets found in Rome a perfect metaphor for their studies of the city and “urban” poetry. |

A History of Russian Symbolism $165 The era of Russian Symbolism (1892-1917) has been called the Silver Age of Russian culture, and even the Second Golden Age. Symbolist authors are among the greatest Russian authors of this century, and their activities helped to foster one of the most significant advances in cultural life (in poetry, prose, music, theater, and painting) that has ever been seen there. This book is designed to serve as an introduction to Symbolism in Russia, as a movement, an artistic method, and a world view. The primary emphasis is on the history of the movement itself. Attention is devoted to what the Symbolists wrote, said, and thought, and on how they interacted. In this context, the main actors are the authors of poetry, prose, drama, and criticism, but space is also devoted to the important connections between literary figures and artists, philosophers, and the intelligentsia in general. This broad, detailed and balanced account of this period will serve as a standard reference work an encourage further research among scholars and students of literature. |

According To A Survey Conducted At A Major Moscow Real Estate Show, Turkey Is Now The Second Most Interesting Selection Among Russian Buyers
Leading Russian foreign property magazine International Residence conducted the survey of 499 Russian buyers at the Moscow International Investment Show in March. They found that Turkey was the third most popular country among Russians looking at overseas property, beaten by Bulgaria in first and Spain in second.
Other observations of the survey were that 49% intended to buy in the following 12 months, 66% were looking for flats, and 53% were buying for way of life reasons matched against 12% looking to make an investment. The survey also found that 40 percent of customers were intend to spend between 100,000 Euro dollars and 250,000 Eurodollars, a higher % than has been seen at prior shows.
Bulgaria and Spain’s acclaim with Russian consumers comes as no shock. From the first reports of Russian customers becoming a skyrocketing force in the foreign property arena, Bulgaria has always been listed as one of their favourites, and Spain as another. Turkey however is a recent entrant to the favorites list of Russian consumers.
Let’s face it : Turkey is an enormous new entrant to several such charts. Sure, Turkey property saw its proper share of buyers since its market was first opened to foreigners in 2002, and this number increased in 2005 when provincial restrictions were removed, but it is only since the crash that Turkey has actually come into flower.
This is clearly displayed in the recent figures from the Turkish Association of Real estate Investment Firms, which recorded a 40 percent increase in purchases of Turkey property by foreign consumers in 2010. Perhaps more seriously the report showed $2.5 billion worth of such sales in 2010, which is almost as much as the $3 bill recorded in the 2 years 2006-2008 put together.
The reason for this popularity comes down to an especially powerful package : A powerful and stable economy with a strong and stable bank system combining to present an environment of high liquidity and low IRs, not to mention the booming tourism industry as more folks fall for Turkey’s sun, sea, sand and agreeable folks year on year. This package is making the country attractive to vacation home buyers, holiday home ( fly to let ) stockholders, and even residential ( buy to let ) investors. There are reports of personal customers making an investment in student accommodation in Istanbul.
The UK economy is still in a large amount of trouble as the government struggles to get a short balance to the political and cheap debates of all sides as it tries to navigate through the country back from the brink as one of Europe’s most indebted nations, to a trail of stable expansion and prosperity. In short , it will probably be a bit before British buyers are anywhere near as dominant on the foreign property scene as they once were.
Meanwhile Russia is one of the world’s hottest undeveloped markets. It is estimated that the Russian market is now worth $12 billion a year to the worldwide overseas property industry. It is a fair presumption that Turkey’s rocketing popularity with Russian consumers is in no small part responsible for the great boost in sales to foreigners in Turkey last year, writes nuwireinvestor.com.
Few years gone and nowadays, many stockholders had invested in Croatia real estate, because Croatia is extraordinarily beautiful country, and offer many nice things for good life and family. Every year, some new European country is favored for investing, so this year that is Turkey.
But, if is something popular that does not always mean that other country are less tasty or interesting. For people that did not been in Croatia, they definitely must come in this gorgeous country to visit all her beauties and maybe invest in some good property.
