International Investments in Private Equity $89.95 How can private equity investors exploit investment opportunities in foreign markets? Peter Cornelius uses a proprietary database to investigate and describe private equity markets worldwide, revealing their levels of integration, their risks, and the ways that investors can mitigate those risks. In three major sections that concentrate on the risk and return profile of private equity, the growth dynamics of discrete markets and geographies, and opportunities for private equity investments, he offers hard-to-find analyses that fill knowledge gaps about foreign markets. Observing that despite the progressive dismantling of barriers investors are still home-biased, he demonstrates that a methodical approach to understanding foreign private equity markets can take advantage of the macroeconomic and structural factors that drive supply and demand dynamics in individual markets. Foreword by Josh Lerner Teaches readers how to investigate and analyze foreign private equity markets Forecasts private equity investment opportunities via macroeconomic and structural factors in individual markets Draws on data from a proprietary database covering 250 buyout and VC funds and 7,000 portfolio companies. |

Finding Affordable Home Theater Receivers
A home theatre receiver takes audio signals from various source components and decodes them to power the home theatre system. It also switches and outputs a video signal to a TV. 3D is touted as the next big thing in home theater receivers. Onkyo, which deals in home theatre receivers, has developed a new range of AV receivers that embrace 3D technology. The Onkyo TX-SR308 Home Theater Receiver is its new model that encompasses this latest technology.
This model comes with a 5.1-channel receiver and includes three HDMI 1.4 inputs that are supposed to support 3D playback and Audio Return Channel (ARC). This new range of home theatre receivers has a simple front layout that is supposed to be easier to use. It has a standby button on the left and a volume control on the right. The digital fluorescent display is faint to avoid distracting the movie watcher in a dark room. The front face also includes inputs for the mic and headphone jack. These are set to ease the interaction with the user.
With three HDMI inputs and one HDMI output, connectivity is easier than ever. Four sets of composite video inputs and two component implants for low resolution devices make it compatible with this type of setup, too. There’s a universal port for the iPhone or iPod in the Onkyo TX-SR308 Receiver, so as to meet the needs of those who use these resources.
It also supports 3-D video, which allows the user to connect up to three high-definition sources, including popular video components like a gaming console, satellite tuner, and a BluRay player. Analog audio performance is also optimized with Burr-Brown DACs. Cleaner audio and video sound is possible with the DACs because there’s less jitter.
The home theatre receiver also has on-screen set up menus which appear overlaid on the video image. This feature aims to allow the viewer to adjust the home theatre settings without having to navigate back and forth on the usually blank screen background. It comes with a direct connection for front-panel audio input. This allows users of iPods or other MP3 players to connect the playback quickly to its front panel. Its Music Optimizer Technology can then enhance the quality of compressed musical files in the portable music player.
This home theatre receiver’s use may be optimized by setting up a home theatre system to listen to music in multiple rooms in a home, and not only the living room. One can also listen to music from outside the house. The new system can enable its user to enjoy quality and enhanced sound, which may be pumped through in-wall speakers and ceiling speakers.
The Onkyo TX-SR308 Receiver raises the bar on the features usually offered by home theater receivers. Because there are so many products of this type flooding the market today, time will tell whether or not this home theater system can deliver what it says it can, and whether or not it will really be the standard in home entertainment.
